Extremely enjoyable set of dishes, including the free-range chicken dish, an oyster dish set in a crispy bed of noodles, and a fried fish dish with other toppings in a sauce (e.g. tofu, pork). Impressive!

To avoid lining up, I arrived one hour after the early bird pricing ended. I avoided waiting to get in, but I still had to wait a bit longer for the last dish as the server forgot to order it.
The shrimp rice noodle and congee dishes were very good. The Chinese kale prepared with ginger was not very tender and would have tasted better if garlic was used. Overall Very Fair Seafood Cuisine is closer to 3 than to 4 stars. -

Happy Chinese/Lunar New Year! This is one of my favourite Chinese restaurant in Scarborough, but it is not cheap.
Tonight my family celebrated our send off to the Year of the Dog as CNY is just around the corner on Tuesday!
Located in the plaza across from the medical building on Finch, this restaurant is nestled east of Kennedy on Milliken and it has a large parking lot.
This restaurant does not have a fancy decor, but it is probably one of the bigger Chinese restaurants in Scarborough if not inToronto with well over 50 tables that can fit 10 people each comfortably and two or more private rooms.
My family chose not to order the usual set dinner that is prearranged for busy dates like this, which is also mostly meat and instead opted for single, a la carte items, that are a blend of mostly seafood and veggies!! This turned out to save us $200 from the cheapest set meal for 10 people, while still fully satisfying our tummies and taste buds!
First time seeing sweet and sour pork served with cranberries, strawberries, besides the usual pineapple. The berry mix added some welcome sweetness for me as the first two dishes were meat.
The next dish was the whole free range chicken and apparently that was moist enough. I like adding the ginger and onion that came with it on to my white rice.
The 3rd dish was tofu with Chinese broccoli, green beans and mushrooms. The various textures of this vegetarian dish was like a breath of fresh air. Soft tofu. Chewy mushrooms. Crunchy beans and crunchy stem yet soft broccoli head.
4th dish was more Chinese greens with garlic.
5th dish was sirloin beef balls with potatoes and beans.
6th dish was shrimps with scallops and more beans.
7th dish was duck feet with mushrooms and snow peas.
8th dish was veggie hearts with broth.
9th dish was oysters with mushrooms and snow peas.
Then we had coconut milk and red bean jello with sesame balls for desserts.
I love how my family decided to go with eating more vegetables today. I felt so included and everything tasted great! Only 3 dish were mainly meat, but everyone enjoyed the meal and every morsel of food was cleaned off the plate. I am so full!!
The dinner was very fair, indeed! Surprisingly, we did not opt for lobster or a steam fish to celebrate CNY, but the mushrooms and snow peas were especially delicious! As the youngest, I was asked by everyone to eat more food, especially since they think that I need to eat more since I mostly only eat veggies and some seafood here and there.
The service here tonight was pretty even though the entire restaurant was bustling with people. We hardly had to wait for any item. They all came at the right interval. However, they did have to move us from our first table to a bigger one, so that we would be seated more comfortably. They also served us a normal sized serving of a dish that we asked for 1.5 times the portions, so we had to request them to fix it. Otherwise, great pricing for the meal overall. It was only $30/person after tips and tax. I can have my lobster and fish some other day. -

I believe this place is underrated as are most dimsum restaurants. I highly recommend getting there by 10:00am. That is because the early bird ($3.50 for all dishes sizes S,M,L) special ends at 10:50am but you may be waiting 15-20mins for a table. After that the wait can be as long as 45min-1hr. This is a normal waittime for dimsum in the GTA and in comparesion to other restos around here; this place is one of the quicker larger places.
What to order - favourites:
#1 Shrimp dumpling (har gow) the skin is an amazing texture, not too white not too clear, size is good. A+
#4 Steamed Pork Dumpling (Siu Mai)
#5 Steamed Seafood Dumpling
#10 Steamed Glutinous Rice w/ chicken , wrapped in Lotus Leaf
#11 Steamed Spare ribs w/taro in black bean sauce
#26 Rice roll with Shrimp and Chives (not a shrimp fan? Try the beef)
#34 Deep fried salty dumplings with pork and preserved vegetables
#40 Deep fried Shrimp and chive roll (very very good!)
#42 Fried Beef Short Ribs
Desserts:
#58 Molten Salty Egg Custard STEAMED bun (only best when eaten hot and fresh)
# 57 Puffy egg tarts (duh!)
Other top picks but is NOT for everyone
#12 Steamed Chicken feet
#23 Steamed dumpling in chiuchow style
#24 Steamed beef tripe with green onion and ginger
#36 Deep fried squid tentacle
Honourable mention: #13 Steamed beef balls with bean curd sheets. You'll know why when you order it.
NOTE:
*TIP IS INCLUDED ALREADY ON BILL. 11% GRAT . Which is fine with me! Service is alright but they try.
I always go here around 930am half asleep haha but it's so worth it. #ilovedimsum #dimsumforlife -

My family and I have been visiting Very Fair for over a decade, before new owners and renovations. The establishment has been serving the community for many years. With that said, the prices of this restaurant has been increasing steadily for dim sum in the last few years.
Tips are added automatically for dim sum. It seems quality and the price increase are not on par. There is an early bird special all week long ($3.5 for S, M, L) before 10:50 AM or so. There is no wait when you arrive before 9:00 AM on the weekend; short wait, there after. Limited option for vegans and vegetarians. No wait during the weekdays.
Service is not great. Food is average. Rarely terrible, except for the odd times when certain steam dumplings are rotten.
Overall, visit Very Fair when you if you are in the area. I would not recommend going out of the way to visit the restaurant.
